Reading Response #4

Dear Marjane Satrapi,

Hi, My name is Melissa Coronado.I really enjoyed reading your book. It has provided me with some knowledge about Iran’s past history. When I read the Introduction, it really got to me that people would die for no wrongdoing. It is very sad to leave your home or to be at the wrong place in the wrong time. I really like how as a little girl you are so determine and how you are a very brave all the way threw your childhood. I like how you are interested in the past leaders and in many stories. It is very interesting to hear other people's story and what they went through to survive many situations. I wish I could be that brave but I would be afraid. My life is very different than the lives described in Persepolis. I would be very terrified to live in a country like that. I would not know what to do in a situation were there is a war going on outside my house or where my religion was already chosen for me. In some way it has its similarities too. By the social classes, how the war only consist of middle/lower class. It is the same situation that is occuring with our current situation regarding the war in the U.S. I was wondering if you were ever terrified about what was happening in your country? I will be waiting for a response. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Melissa Coronado
