Persepolis

Dear Friend,
My name is Joseph Garcia and I am eighteen years old and I am currently going to school at California State University of Los Angeles. I was reading the novel Perseplois and I have a few questions for you and just want to talk about how your culture is so much different from mine. I never knew how strict rules can be in a country I wouldn't think that people can just go around and actually kill people and just leave them there on the street. In my country people that break the law or rules doesn't neccessarily result to a punshment by death. In my country if people have something to say we can say it because we have the freedom of free speech. To me it is a horrible feeling how people cannot even express how they feel about something even if they are concerned. To me I feel that the book Persepolis didn't really exaggerate anything that happens in your country am I wrong do you feel that there were some parts in the novel that you that doesn't really happen? for example how people can be cruel? Or if growing up in a place like that is really that hard to do? I really like the novel because it does talk about a struggle in a girls life. Have you ever been through any struggles that Marjane has gone through? Well I hope you can write back and hopefully we can fiinsh this conversation. Goodbye

Sincerely,
Joseph Garcia
