Readin Response #4

Dear: Marjane Satrapi:

I am a student in the United States, who in past few weeks has been reading your book. Your story has impressed me especially the horrible things you and your family had lived through. It was been amazing seeing a brave girl and not a boy. Reading this book made me realize that not every one in Iran has evil ideas. I am going to be honest with you after September 11, I played around saying that terrorist are coming when I saw someone wearing something on top of their head and a huge beard. I learn that you should not judge someone by their ethnicity. My childhood has been a lot different from yours. I have been a quiet girl and I didn’t play any games like you did torturing your friends or protesting outside out my house. When I was ten years old I used to played bicycles or any other game. Here in United States children don’t get involved a lot in political problems. My parents didn’t try to inform us about any political problem. The chapter that was really sad was “The Heroes” seeing how the prisoners were torture because of political ideas. It will be amazing to have a hero in your family but the way they were treated was not fair. It was sad that your uncle need to past through that. I think that he will never forget what we lived through. This question might be simple but I have to ask you did you really believe you were talking to god or it was just a make believed for the story? It has been a pleasure to read your book. I hope you keep writing your stories.

Sincerely: Mildred Herrera
