Persepolis

Dear, Friend

I am from Los Angeles, California and I attend California State University of Los Angeles. In one of our courses of the university we are reading and discussing the concepts of social class. In America social class played a major role in the establishment of the United States. There was a huge movement called the Civil Rights movement which helped blacks gain equality in the white America. In the book Persepolis social class is discussed at a diffrent level and i would like to compare some of the similarities between the two countries America And Iran. First blacks in the 1930's were not see as equal, they were mistreated and not seen as a "person", they were slaves. The whites used them as maids or whatever you wanted them to do for you. They had no intelligence, so they didnt no how to read nor write. In your countrie it was the same the low classs were the maids for the rich class. Neither did the low class in your country have intelligence. They were treated diffrently. For myself I am Mexican/American i have been stereotyped and labled socially, I'll probably drop out, I''ll have a low paying job, I'm going to have a minimal education. I proved all of these stereo types wrong. Am getting a college education, i havent dropped out of school and i will have a high paying job. Over coming the barriers was not easy but i was able too. Reading the Persepolis book has taught me how not to be so stereotyped towards your people because i learned alot of history from were you come from by just reading the book. It has opened my eyes up to see that people arent all the same they want better for there life but it cant happen do to all the broken laws that your country has. I believe you guys are good people not everyone is the same nor have the same intesions as to hurting others. I would like to ask how is things with your family? How is it living in crisis like the one your leaving? Is your family okay? How are they taking this situation you guys are in? Is moving up in social class easy to do or do people encounter resistance?
Take Care, Friend
