Reading Response #4

Dear Marjane Satarapi,

I am Corina Esteban a student at Cal State LA. I have read your book Persepolis I have found this book to be funny and intersting. This book made reailize that not all the people are bad they don't just think of killing the enemy some are forced to believe that killing and destrioying the enemy is the right thing to do. The book Persepolis showed me that the life you had growning up has been different from mine in many ways. My life has never been run by a dictator. We in the USA have grown up with equal rights such as freedom of speech. Each person comes to an understanding of how to run this country. We have elections were people get to vote on what we think is right and fair. Everybody in the country has the right to speak their mind with out getting in trouble this includes women. By reading this book I understand that I am fourtunate to be a part of this country where I can be able to be more independent even if I am a woman. I would like to know how your life has changed? Do you feel experincing a time of revolution has made you stronger person and understand your country more? The book Persepolis mentions how the life of your mother was different because her father was once a king and was overthrown by the Shah and she had to go through tough times. How would you have dealt with a situation like this if this would have been your father who was a king?It has been intersting to learn about the life of an Iranian person I look foward to learning more experioences of people from Iran.
Sincerly,
Corina Esteban
